I was talking with my good friend GAW the other day via text messages. It was a good time. But, again, he pointed out that I haven't updated my blog in awhile. In this case awhile = 3 months. He also made a good point that a blog is a great way to keep in touch with friends and see what's going on in their lives and to let them know what's going on in your life. I would like to take this opportunity to get everyone out there up to speed on the wonderful life of JLB (me, if you didn't catch that...).
If you didn't know, I am a grad student in Statistics studying at one of the greatest universities in Logan, UT: USU Hey! Aggies all the way!!! I am doing research for the university in the field of Bioinformatics. For those who are in the dark about this wonderful subject, it's pretty much a field in statistics in which you look at a few genomes (e.g. human, mouse, etc.) in normally two different groups (e.g. cancer, control) and see if there are any "genes" that are particularly [differentially] expressed between the two groups. Very interesting field of study, amazing technology.
This brings me to my next point: Macs are better. I'm serious when I say, "I wish I had a Mac." They are simply amazing. Better graphics, faster, more efficient, R was meant to run on them, they have the insignia of a partially eaten apple, and I could go on. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this Windows crap a little longer, until I graduate next spring, get a job, make a fortune, etc. as they are a little more expensive (the good ones) than the PC that I'm using. I did, however, turn my Toshiba (LAPPY) into a Mac with a new technology, called a "sticker." She, and yes I did say she, seems to run a little better. I think of it as a mod-chip of sorts, kind of like the one you hook up to the engine of a car, which adds a few HP and (one would hope) overrides any governor that impedes greater velocity. Except this one is easier to install; in fact, no installation is even necessary. The "sticker" "sticks" to the outside of the computer that you want to turn into a Mac. I call it a FMac, which stands for Fake Mac.
I got into the X-files again. This time is even better [more of an obsession] because I got the ultimate collection, which has all 9 seasons, the movie, and comes in a cool box. The box has a big eye on the front, and has a secret shelf that contains a 201 episode guide, some action cards that serve absolutely no purpose, and a movie poster. I can say with 95% confidence that it's the best purchase I have ever made. I'm also into Heroes, mostly because at the beginning of the first episode it talks about a "seemingly random" group of people.
Thus, I fell in love instantly. I love going to, and watching movies [mother in t9 language]. I've recently seen August Rush, The Golden Compass, Sweeny Todd, 3:10 to Yuma, and Blue Harvest (The Family Guy Star Wars spoof). All very good flicks, well with the exception of Blue Harvest, which was hardly worth the buck I paid to Redbox it. And the answer is, if you were wondering if I like Redboxing, yes. You can get free rentals, and I'm sure you all know this, by punching in a special code AKA a promo code (found at www.insideredbox.com).
Well friends, that's pretty much it. My life is the same as always. I'm not dating anyone, and no, you cannot set me up with one of your friends. Oh and I got into photography a little. If you Google Jason Bell photography, my site is the first one to pop up...

OK, that's really not me. But here is some of my real work:
Feel free to use any of these pictures how you see fit, as I know that you are all dying to... ;) Peace out.

Thanks for the update, dude. And look for the use of your very artsy photos in my blog... :) And it better not be 3 months before you update again!
Jason, I miss you. Your writing just oozes with your personality, and it reminded me of that. Your seemingly random and x-files purchase cracked me up.
I'm coming to Logan for a b-ball game soon, and I'll let you know when so I can say hello...
Hey Jason this is Jessica Jared's wife I found your blog from Garrett's. Anyway I just wanted to tell you I am very greatful for people like you who are daring enough to go into bioinfomatics so that the genetic people like me don't have to figure it all out.
you are right...macs are better. I recently obtained the new awesome black macbook. I will never go back to PC...such an insult.
sooo, sweeny todd? i think that movie looks so awesome. what did you think?
I thought it was amazing!!! I definitely recommend it. And I'm jealous that you got a mac. :S
Heroes, that is a great show. I'm missing it. Oh yeah, and that pizza looks good.
Finally...A new post. I hope that you keep this going a little longer than the last time around! I enjoy reading what you have to say along with all my other blogging friends! :)
Thanks for the support. Haha. I hope that I can too. I will try to keep it going!
Jason, why is it just now that I am finding out you have a blog... I will now be a devoted reader. I do disagree with you about the Mac is better than PC thing, and I have a theory that Macs are slowly evolving into PCs.
Yeah, I can see that, but you have it all bassackwards! If you pay attention, you will see pc's (i.e. Microsoft) looking more and more like a mac. And Linux based OS's are much better at, for example, networking. Anyway, I look forward to reading your blog too.
jason, i thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog. and all i have to say about it is... i love my mac. :) if you were not previously aware, you can get an education discount on a mac and many apple products via apple.com or the bookstore. that discount is only about 10%. so it may not be much at this point.
hey i put you on my blog!
i laughed OUT LOUD when i read "seemingly random" HAHAHAHAHAHA miss your face!!
